(KLZA)-- The Humboldt City Council last week approved a recommendation from the Humboldt Auditorium Board to approve Treanor Architects of Topeka to prepare the plans for the City Auditorium renovation. The cost for the work will be $138,000.
In other business the Council met with Lisa Beethe with the Southeast Nebraska Development District to discuss housing rehabilitation grant applications. A contract was approved in the amount of $21,769 with McNealy Construction on one project. Two draw downs on the grant funds were approved for SENDD, one for general administration expense and one of housing management expenses. The total was $4,802.
Reimbursement for an environmental review for the Humboldt Housing Authority in the amount of $547 was also approved.
The Council also approved seeking bids for the demolition of two properties. One house is at 725 Central Avenue and the other is at 947 4th Street.
A building permit for Leah Reyes for a playhouse was approved. The total cost will be $5,000.
Councilman Dean Bogle also discussed ways to invest money the city has on hand. Municipalities are only allowed to invest in certificates of deposit or in bonds.
