(KLZA)-- Auburn and Falls City are among the safest places to live in Nebraska according to the SafeWise report released this week.
SafeWise uses the most recent FBI crime data from 2012 to analyze and rank communities. Crimes from part 1 of the FBI Unified Crime Report is used, focusing on violent crimes including aggravated assault, forcible rape, murder and robbery. Also included is arson, burglary, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft.
O’Neill ranked as the safest community in Nebraska in which to live. Auburn was second with 1.14 violent crimes per 1,000 residents a 5.43 property crimes per 1,000 residents.
Cozad was third. Falls City placed fourth with .92 violent crimes per thousand and 10:58 property crimes per 1,000. Aurora was fifth. Rounding out the top 10 were Wahoo, Seward, Sidney, Blair and Gering.
As a state, Nebraska ranked as the 13th safest state to live in.
