(KLZA)-- The Falls City School Board Monday night voted to recognize the Falls City Education Association as the bargaining agent for the Districts teachers for the 2016-17 school year contract. The first negotiations meeting between the negotiations committee and the teachers group will be November 18th.
A number of policy revisions were approved during the meeting.
Superintendent Tim Heckinlivey reported the new Sixpence toddler playground at North School has been completed. It features a rubberized mat surface and a canopy cover. Heckinlively also reported that a Falls City Tiger mural for the north wall of the McIntyre – Henderson Field House at Falls City High School is in the process of being drafted. Example designs will be available for selection later this fall.
Prior to the Board meeting a program was held in the commons area of the Middle School to recognize 23 students who posted 100 percent on various aspects of the Nebraska Standardized tests that are take by students in grades 3 – 8 and High School junior class members each year.
Two students posted a pair of perfect scores giving the school district 25 perfect marks which is the most ever. Shawn Emerson, North School Principal and Assessment Coordinator for District 56 says the scores indicates that students and teachers are working hard to produce, teach and learn the curriculum that helps prepare students for the tests.
Each of the students recognized, received a certificate and a $10 I-Tunes gift card.
