(KAIR) -- A citizen comment has helped spark an analysis of road and traffic improvements for Atchison county roads.
The comment was brought to County Commissioners last week about the safety and speed on county roads.
Unless designated, speed limits on county roads are 55 miles per hour.
Tesea Kearney believes 262nd Road between U.S. 59 and Ottawa Road southwest of Atchison should see a speed reduction to 35 miles per hour.
Sheriff Jack Laurie says his office is going to request a speed reduction to Commissioners and says 262nd is not the only area of concern for his Deputies.

Two intersections along 262nd Road are planned to be re-done within the next year as part of a K-DOT Safety Grant in an effort to slow drivers down.
Commissioner Jeff Schuele says the speed limit assessments and intersection restructuring are just the beginning of potential road upgrades around the county.

Schuele says these requests are coinciding with general citizen demand for paved roads and bridge and culvert replacements around the county.
