Atchison County Nixes Pollution Insurance
05/17/2013

(KAIR) -- After weeks of discussion on the effectiveness of having pollution insurance, Atchison County Commissioner Wednesday unanimously voted not to renew the policy.

This came after getting an explanation of the coverage that’s been in place since 2001 from area insurance agent Steve Caplinger.

Commission Chairman Jeff Schuele says the policy’s rejection will save the county just over 40 thousand dollars.

In other business, the planned Countywide Summit for next week has been postponed due to scheduling conflicts.

Schuele says the municipalities are working to find a date in June to hold the summit to discuss the future of the countywide sales tax enacted in 1993.
