Mound City Agrees to Sell Property to Local Church
12/11/2012

(KTNC) - The Mound City Board of Aldermen has approved an ordinance to sell the property at 508 Mound Street to a local church.  The First Christian Church submitted the only bid to purchase the property.
Aldermen unanimously accepted the church’s bid of $1500 to purchase the property.  They also approved a motion to release all special tax bills on the property.
The City of Mound City is also moving forward with plans to sell two other properties.  The properties are located at 501 State Street and 1012 Mill Street.
City Clerk Patsy Smith told the council last week that demolition work had been completed at 501 State Street, with the city spending approximately $34,000 for the demolition and related work.  The bids for that property will be opened at the January council meeting.
The council voted to sell the property at 1012 Mill Street, which had been deeded to the city.
In other action last week, the Mound City Council approved a motion to spend $5,000 to repair leaks in the lagoon liner.  A crew from a Texas company now working in Ohio will make the repairs in Mound City on their way back to Texas.
City Clerk Patsy Smith said the city received just under $4800 for the bean crop on the seven acres adjacent to the lagoon.
And Aldermen approved an ordinance to set the Municipal Election for April 2, 2013.  Mound City voters will elect one Alderman from the North Ward and one Alderman from the South Ward for two-year terms.
