(KLZA)-- The Mound City Board of Aldermen reviewed bids received for painting the water tower during their April meeting. A bid from Cunningham Inc. in the amount of $136,375 was submitted which includes a commercial blast cleaning preparation with water-injected abrasive blasting equipment to control dust. It also includes a primer coating and an intermediate coating applied before the paint. The applications will be applied by brush and roller. A four-year warranty is included on the exterior coating.
Pittsburg Tank and Tower Maintenance submitted a bid of $96,950. The bid included a pressure wash of the tank exterior and support structure. One spot prime coat of metal primer and two complete finish coats . A 12-month guarantee was included. The application would be sprayed on and the City would have to clear out vehicles and equipment a safe distance from the job site and cover the school track during the process.
The Board unanimously approved going with the bid from Cunningham, Incorporated.
Mayor Chris Krueger discussed street repairs for the summer. He said the City does not want to get behind on the streets and that cracks are needing to be filled, including big cracks in the pool parking lot. No action was taken.
Stuart Disposal has informed the Council the business has not been sold and the trash company plant to remain open for a couple more years. The Council agreed to renew the trash collection agreement with Stuart Disposal, it includes an addendum allowing the City to void the contract if the business is sold and the City is not happy with the new owners performance.
Justin Courtney with Open Season Gun Shop met with the Board to discuss utilities to property on West Davis Street. Courtney is researching getting water and sewer service to a building he would be putting up on West Davis Street. The matter was tabled until further information is receive.
Hunting outfitters in residential districts was also discussed. Several complaints have come up about the operation of businesses in residential areas. Neighbors are also upset with the damage being done to their properties by vehicles driving and parking on them. Attorney Brian Tubbs is looking into the matter.
