(KTNC) There’s still no final resolution on a new law enforcement agreement between Pawnee City and Pawnee County. Sheriff Jayme Reed and County Commissioner Jan Lang met with the Pawnee City Council Monday night to continue discussing an agreement.
The county is now proposing a three percent annual increase over the next three years in the contract amount, after the city turned down increases of six percent and four-and-a-half percent. City Clerk Tammy Stephens says the council decided to hold off on any agreement for the time being. (play audio :43)
Individual council members will meet with Auditor Julie Bauman this week to begin formulating the city budget for the next fiscal year. Stephens says the city will know more where they stand after meeting with the auditor.
