Atchison County Commissioners heard an analysis of employee benefits from Hays Company in their regular Monday meeting.
Commissioners earlier this year approved negotiations to seek out a new benefit provider for county employees.
County Commissioner Jeff Schuele discusses what Hays found out.

Commissioners also held a budget workshop with Atchison County Sheriff John Calhoon for Joint Communications.
Schuele says the department is proposing, 420 to 425 thousand dollars, a three to five percent increase to their budget.

On Wednesday, Commissioners will look to set the cap on the proposed solid waste fee, reserving the right to lower that rate by the time the budget is finalized between now and August.
The fee is planned to go toward joint city-county solid waste reform next year and the proposed EMS service upgrade on January 1st.
