Atchison County Commissioners name a new Emergency Preparedness and Noxious Weed Director.
After a brief executive session, Commissioners unanimously appointed interim director Wes Lanter to the role permanently Wednesday morning at the wage of 15 dollars an hour, in addition to his part-time wage for being the IT Director.
Commissioners then gave authority to Lanter to name J.D. Thompson EMS Director for the remainder of 2012, for five hours a week at a wage of 17.42 an hour as Lanter resumes coursework for certification for that position.
Lanter was one of 10 applicants for the EP position and has served in the interim role shortly after the departure of Lori Chew earlier this year.
He had been an administrative assistant in that office prior to this role.
In other business, Commissioners met with Don Huff, representing a committee to revitalize the outside of Memorial Hall in Atchison to its original form.
He was seeking funding from the county to get the project started this year.
However, due to budget constraints, it may not see a beginning, if at all, until 2013.
