(KTNC)--Residents in southeast Nebraska and northwest Missouri received an emergency message Sunday afternoon that officials say was sent by mistake.
Emergency management officials in Richardson and Nemaha Counties say the National Weather Service sent a test emergency message to individuals in Richardson and Nemaha Counties in Nebraska and Atchison County in Missouri.
The message, sent at approximately 3:50 Sunday afternoon, indicated there was an unknown emergency situation at Cooper Nuclear Station. A second message was sent about 20 minutes later saying to disregard the initial alert, which was sent in error.
Officials say there was no emergency and the nuclear plan Donations are being sought for the annual Falls City Clothing Giveaway.
Organizers will begin taking donations for the Back-to-School Clothing Giveaway beginning Monday, August 11. Donations of clothing appropriate for children, from birth through high school age, can be brought to the basement of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 20th and Towle Street from 8:00 a.m. till noon Monday through Friday.
The clothing will be available, free of charge, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on August 28 and 29, and from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. on August 30, in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
Organizers of the clothing drive ask for donations of clothing only, and any adult clothing that’s donated should be suitable for high school age children.
This is the 17th year for the Back-to-School Clothing Giveaway.
