(KAIR) -- Work is scheduled to begin May 28 on a resurfacing project on U.S. Highway 36 in Buchanan and DeKalb counties in Missouri.
A contract for nearly four million dollars was awarded to Herzog Contracting Corp. to resurface nearly 11 miles of the eastbound lanes of U.S. Hwy 36.
The Missouri Department of Transportation says the project begins in Buchanan County, east of Route AC and continues into DeKalb County, ending east of Route 31 north.
Motorists should expect single lane closures in one to two mile stretches with one lane of eastbound U.S. Hwy 36 remaining open throughout the duration of the project.
The project will also include work in some of the crossover areas along this section of U.S. Hwy 36. Wide load vehicles and agricultural equipment will be restricted during the project - the maximum permitted width of any vehicle through the work zone will be 16 feet.
Contractors will repair portions of the concrete in preparation of the resurfacing treatment.
