I-29 Reopens Near St. Joseph After Fatal Accident
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) - Two people died and at least nine people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 29 south of St. Joseph.
The accident about a mile south of St. Joseph Thursday morning shut down northbound lanes of the interstate near Faucett between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Lowe says a van carrying 10 passengers, two vehicles and a tractor-trailer were involved in the accident. The two victims, the van's 43-year-old driver and his 37-year-old wife, were declared dead at the scene. Eight of the nine injured were in the van.
Video shows the front of the van destroyed after it crashed into the back of the tractor-trailer. Lowe says traffic had slowed because of an earlier accident before the van hit the truck.
