Commissioners Approve Bonds for Benedictine
03/05/2013

(KAIR) -- Atchison County Commissioners Monday approved the issuance of up to five million dollars in educational facilities revenue bonds on behalf of Benedictine College.

The bonds are ongoing renovation projects for the school.  Issuance of the bonds will not affect the county mill levy.

In other business, Commissioner Mike Bodenhausen gave commissioners an update on a recent meeting in Topeka with an engineer with the Kansas Division of Water Resources regarding the replacement of a bridge on Cherokee Road, south of 310th Road, in northwest portion of the county.

The bridge collapsed a few months ago when a farmer attempted to go over it with his truck.

Bodenhausen says there are many hoops that the county has to go through to get the bridge replaced.(Play Audio)

Commissioners also conducted their final interview for the position of special projects manager.

Bodenhausen says the Commission should make a decision on hiring in the next week.
