(KAIR) -- Atchison County Commissioners were able to meet with two of the three trash haulers in the county Tuesday morning to get their feedback on upcoming recycling and the recent implementation of a solid waste fee on property tax statements.
A representative of Deffenbaugh, as well as Dale Martin of Martin’s Trash Service was on hand for the discussion.
Martin, who has some customers in Atchison but a larger base in the rest of the county, says feedback on single stream recycling hasn’t been well received by his customers and could see some unforeseen costs.

Martin suggested to Commissioners at this point seeing how the process plays out.

Commissioners also began round one of public solid waste fee appeal hearings.
Among the concerns from those protesting the fee was a lack of communication when it came to posting public notices on the plan to implement the fee.
