(KAIR) -- Some people are still without power in Northeast Kansas due to the first winter storm of the year.
According to the Westar Energy web site, over 27 hundred customers were without power in Atchison County at the storms peak just before six Thursday morning.
That figure has dropped to just over 260 as of 3:45 Thursday afternoon.
Spokeswoman Erin LaRow says strong winds are the main culprit to the delay in power restoration and that no specific timetable has been outlined to total restoration.
LaRow says crews from other parts of the state have been dispatched to the area to assist with the restoration efforts.
A few hundred Jefferson and Brown County customers and over two thousand of the nearly 27 thousand Leavenworth County customers were also without power Thursday morning.
