(KAIR) -- The city of Effingham will see a few changes in their internet services immediately.
With the upcoming removal of services by Rainbow Communications, the city council Wednesday night voted to transition their services to CenturyLink at the city office, and as a cost saving measure, eliminating internet services at the city shop.
The council also ordered the City Attorney to contact the city’s water meter provider to seek more information on replacing defective water meters around the city.
City Clerk Pat Strine says the city notified the company several months ago about the problem but nothing has been done by the company to replace them.
The council also had a visit from County Commissioner Mike Bodenhausen.
He explained the elements of the 2013 county budget and the Commission’s intention to host a fall summit at the Blue Building in Effingham, tentatively scheduled for December.
