(KAIR) -- The former City Administrator of Valley Falls has been named interim Atchison Public Works Director.
Chris Channell was chosen for the interim position after several conversations with potential interim candidates.
Channell had served as the City Administrator of Valley Falls since October 2010, but wasn't re-appointed by the City Council in May.
Channell assumed his duties Thursday.
The City will begin a nationwide search for the next Public Works Director this summer, and Channell will not be a candidate for the position.
The City hopes to have a new director in place by the end of summer.
