(KAIR) -- Atchison County has hired on its summer intern to continue to oversee the implementation of the solid waste project he’s been leading for the past several months.
After an executive session Wednesday, Commissioners hired Chase Brunick through at least November.
County Commissioner Jeff Schuele explains.

Schuele says they mailed out the solid waste and single source recycling request for proposals Thursday to larger providers and will also have the specifics on the county website (www.atchisoncountyks.org) for the public or other vendors to view.
Deadline for bids has been set for September 24th.
Commissioners also conducted a budget workshop with County Attorney Jerry Kuckelman.
Schuele says he’s only requesting a minimal increase and made a recommendation on wage structure for county employees.

Kuckleman also reported the increase in contempt citations for not paying old fines has generated around 10 thousand dollars in revenue since they implemented the crack-down policy at the beginning of the year.
