(KAIR) -- A dedication for a museum and full afternoon of activities are planned to honor a Muscotah native and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer.
It's set to take place for the Joe Tinker Museum on July 22nd at four.
Muscotah resident C.J. Hanson says they hoped to have the museum finished, but due to the recent string of hot weather and welding work on the exterior, work has been postponed.
The museum is the old water tower, which is intended to have stitches welded on it and painted white like a baseball.
It will contain not only memorabilia from Tinker’s career, but Muscotah’s history.
They will also have their annual celebration at the celebration at the city park, where citizens will play an old school style baseball game after the dedication.
Community outreach will provide hot dogs, chips and drinks for a free will donation at five, followed by a free ice cream social at six.
Hanson says the annual celebration, held on the weekend near Tinker’s birthday, was revived a few years ago by citizens after celebrations on his birthday ceased for several decades.
Hanson says the baseball game is a generational-oriented event.
