Work Progresses on New Falls City Weight Room
04/11/2012

Construction on the new strength and conditioning facility at Falls City High School is continuing to progress.
Superintendent Tim Heckenlively updated school board members on the progress during Monday’s meeting.  He said the windows, electrical, insulation, and sheetrock installation have been completed.  Also in place are new glass entry doors, and the ductwork for the H-VAC system.
Heckenlively also said that the rubber flooring material would be installed soon, and the strength and conditioning equipment has been ordered.
As part of the claims, the school board approved a payment of $37,000 to Power Lift for half the cost of the equipment.  Heckenlively said that would be taken from the Activity Fund and would be reimbursed as donations are received.
He noted that the district has received additional donations to help with the purchase of equipment for the new weight room.  In addition to the $12,000 donation from the Tiger Booster Club, Heckenlively said the Class of 1957 had contributed $4,000; Jason and Mandy Bredemeier had donated $1,000; and Gerald and Kathy Hopp had given $150.
Also during his report Monday night, Heckenlively said that the long anticipated replacement of the Middle School Gym floor was scheduled to begin immediately after the end of the school year, on or about May 17th.  That project is expected to take at least five weeks to complete.  Plans are being made for middle school athletic camps and leagues to use the high school facilities until the new gym floor is installed.
