Atchison city and county leaders want to address a situation of concern that has come across their desks from employees and citizens in the past several days in regards to rumors of merging city and county offices.
It was addressed at the end of Monday night’s joint city and county meeting; they addressed the discussion they have been having with Treanor contractors.
County Commissioner Jeff Schuele says any discussion is very preliminary and being looked at in the interest of saving taxpayers money.

He says this is a common exploration with the continued reduction of state revenues and flat lining property valuations.
