Frankfort Boy's Advance to State Championship
03/09/2012

It was the utilization of senior post players, Jonathan Keating and Jacob Broxterman that paced the way for the Frankfort Wildcats in their 50-39 win over the Fowler Goldbugs, as they combined for 37 of the 50 Wildcat points. So, while the three-pointer's were not falling for Frankfort they went to their key staples all season in the post play of Broxterman and Keating. Wildcats would lead throughout the contest and establish the post early with Keating scoring eight points of the 12 by Frankfort in the first quarter.

At the half Frankfort lead it 19-13 over Fowler, but the Goldbugs would make a little run in the third to outscore the Wildcats by two in the third stanza. Then the wildcats would go to Broxterman who would score nine points in the fourth period to help pace the way for a 20-13 fourth for Frankfort and ultimately the victory, punching their ticket to the Class 1A-Division II State Tourney Championship game.

Early foul trouble in the first half on 6'4 big men, junior, Jett Reese and sophomore, Ty Clark would force them to the bench with three personal fouls in the first half allowing Frankfort to utilize their posts even more. Foul trouble would add up for Frankfort and Fowler in the second half for all the big's on both teams, but only Clark of Fowler would foul out of the game. The Goldbugs were plagued by cold shooting as well as the tandem of Keating and Broxterman for Frankfort. Fowler shot 26.7% from the floor, including 7-28 from three-point land. Sophomore, Taylin Bird would lead the way with 14 points and Reese would add 11, himself.

For Frankfort it was the tandem of Broxterman and Keating as stated combined for 37 of the 50 points for Frankfort, netting 19 and 18, respectively. Broxterman would finish with a double-double has he nabbed 10 rebounds to go with his 19 points, while Keating grab eight rebounds.
