A single vehicle accident near Rushville claims the life of an Atchison man.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 6:52 Saturday evening when 25 year old Derek Kuhnert was northbound on 116th Street four miles south of Rushville.
His 1998 GMC Sierra traveled off the east side of the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned and landed on the passenger's side facing west.
Kuhnert was partially ejected from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The patrol says he was not wearing a safety device.
The patrol was assisted by Buchanan County Sheriff's Deputies and Atchison EMS.
It is currently unknown as to what caused the accident.
