Dr. Thomas Ediger, Peru State College Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities, has been named the Peru State College 2012 Teacher Excellence Award Winner. This marks the third time Dr. Ediger has received the award at Peru State. He will be honored during Peru State’s graduation on May 5th.
The Teacher Excellence Award is given annually to one outstanding full-time faculty member at each of the three state colleges in Nebraska, Peru, Wayne and Chadron. Recipients of the campus award from each of the colleges are finalists for the Nebraska State College System’s George Rebensdorf Teaching Excellence Award.
Dr. Ediger joined the Peru State faculty in 1979. He directs the Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers and teaches courses in music theory, music history, music education and piano. He is also an active performer, composer and popular piano and vocal clinician / adjudicator in the region.
Ediger also founded the Peru State College Piano Extravaganza in 1990, an event that annually brings more than 200 pianists to campus for a day long event.
