B&B @ Onaga
Girls’ Varsity: Caitlin Deters (B&B) 13 points It was a close game between the B&B Falcons and the Onaga Buffaloes throughout most of the first three-quarters of the game. Onaga looked like they were going to take a lead going into the half but B&B stole the ball away at the last second and sophomore, Katie Huerter threw up a transition three at the buzzer that banked home and gave the Falcons a two-point lead at the half. The lead was stretched to an eight-point lead for B&B at the end of the third quarter, then after a seven to zero fourth quarter B&B notched a 38-23 win. In what was a low scoring affair it was a balanced attack for both squads as six different players scored for each team. Leading the way for the Falcons was senior guard, Caitlin Deters with 13 points, as the only Falcon to net double figures on the evening. Sophomore, Ashley Kramer finished with seven points, while sophomore’s, Luara Sudbeck and Katie Huerter each had six points in the game. For the Buffaloes five or their six scorers finished with three or less points, while sophomore Jocelyn Marten lead the Buffaloes with double figures on the night, finishing with 11 points. B&B stretched their winning streak to seven games, improving to 14-3 with the win, while Onaga fell to 3-13 with the loss. Boys’ Varsity: Riley Falk (Onaga) 19 points It went down to the wire in the boy’s varsity action between the B&B Falcons and the Onaga Buffaloes, Onaga holding on for the victory, as they hit some free throws late in the game, to secure the 50-46 win. The Buffaloes led most of the contest, but did give up the lead a few times in the second half, most notably as the Falcons battled throughout the night. Plenty of players in double digits on the night in this contest with B&B finishing the evening with three players in double figures and Onaga with two. The trio of seniors, Cody Heiman and Eric Huerter, plus junior Curtis Stallbaumer scored 44 of the B&B’s 46 points on the evening. Stallbaumer lead the way with a season high 20 points, while Huerter and Heiman finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively. For Onaga, their leading scorer on the season senior, Riley Falk led the team with 19 points, while senior guard, Zak Marten had double figures also with 13 points (10 of his 13 came in the first quarter). Onaga improved to 12-4 on the season with the win; while B&B fell to 12-5 with the loss.
