(KLZA)-- Nemaha County, Nebraska Commissioners met with Interim Veteran Service Officer Bill Hessler and Loras Baumhover last week who discussed the activities in the Veterans Service Office.
Hessler has set Monday’s and Wednesday’s for office hours in Nemaha County. He explained he is continuing to delete outdated files and updating veteran’s records and logging veterans into the VetraSpec computer program. The Board asked the County Clerk to place an ad seeking volunteers to drive veterans to doctor appointments in Lincoln and Omaha.
Sasha Rightsell presented the quarterly report for Southeast Nebraska Community Action. She noted she is busy currently with families making applications for holiday gift baskets to be distributed December 11th. Rightsell also informed the Board of a need for winter apparel items for distribution to local men, women and children.
Nemaha County Hospital Director Marty Fattig presented the hospitals quarterly report and reviewed the upcoming hospital employee sponsored “Nemaha County Gives Back.” Hospital employees provide all of the food for the event with 100% of the revenue received paid back to local organizations.
