(USDA)-- A report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows there are plenty of jobs available in ag-related fields, but not nearly enough college graduates to fill them.
The report finds there are nearly 60-thousand ag job openings expected each year nationwide, but only a little over 35-thousand graduates available. More than half the grads in ag and ag-related fields are women. About 93-percent of Nebraska’s land, some 45-million acres, is used for agriculture and nearly 47-thousand farms.
There are some great opportunities for recent grads. The report projects almost half of the ag job opportunities in the next five years will be in management and business. Another quarter will be in science, technology, engineering and math. Agriculture is Nebraska's top industry and, a recent UNL study showed 25-percent of all jobs in Nebraska are related to agriculture.
