(KLZA)-- The Humboldt City Council Tuesday evening unanimously approved the appointment of Justin Shupp to fill the vacancy in Ward II.
Shupp will replace Crystal Dunekacke who was appointed mayor earlier this month following the resignation of Mike Riley. Shupp will be sworn in May 5th.
The 2015-16 Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department Officers were approved. Rex Kapel will serve as Chief with an annual salary of $600. Rick Dettman will be the Assistant Chief at a salary of $400 annually. Danny DeJonge will serve as Steward with an annual salary of $500. Larry Stauffer will serve as Secretary-Treasurer with Tom Dettman, Jon Snoke and Trent Phillips serving as Trustees.
The Council approved a request from Tom Dettman to operate a business out of his home on Grand Avenue. Dettman plans to clean and repair guns.
