Scholarships Awarded to Peru State Business Contest Winners

(KLZA)-- Fifteen area high school students took top honors at Peru State College’s 42nd Annual High School Business Contest. First-place winners in each of the 15 categories received $500 tuition scholarships for on-campus classes to Peru State.

Students competed with their peers from a record 27 high schools in Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas in 15 business disciplines, including accounting, advanced accounting, business communications, business law, business math, computer concepts, economics, entrepreneurship, introduction to business, job interview, keyboarding objective, keyboarding skills, marketing, personal finance and Web page design.

Participating schools included:

Auburn, Concordia, Deshler, Douglas County West, Elmwood-Murdock, Falls City, Freeman, Fremont-Mills, Gretna, Heartland Community Schools, HTRS, Johnson-Brock, Johnson County Central, Lincoln East, Lincoln High, Lincoln Northeast, Lincoln North Star, Lincoln Southeast, Lincoln Southwest, Palmyra, Sabetha, Sidney, Sterling, Syracuse, Tarkio, Tri-County and Southern.

First place finishers included,

Introduction to Business, Brady Wilkerson from HTRS

Job Interview, Samantha Teten from Johnson-Brock

Keyboarding I (Objective), Livia Wilhelm from Syracuse

Keyboarding I (Skills), Allie Binder from HTRS

Marketing, Samantha Teten from Johnson-Brock

Personal Finance, Michael Purcell from Johnson County Central.
