(KLZA)-- The Mound City Board of Aldermen received the annual report from the Mound City Rural Fire District when they met last week. Board member Jason Hall reported more than 60 fire calls for 2014 with a majority of them being grass fires. The Fire Districts certified tax levy for calculation of the City’s annual payment was presented.
Don Volz and Louis Lelim met with the Board to discuss the storm sewer that dumps into Davis Creek to the west of the City equipment building. Storm water accumulates in the area. Following a lengthy discussion Mayor Chris Krueger said the City would look into having the area looked at for a solution of the problem. Alderman Heck said he would also like to look at the area and then meet with Mayor Krueger.
Mayor Krueger reported the Holt County EEZ had to be revised again due to Forest City not wanting to be included. Presiding Holt County Commissioner Mark Sitherwood asked the City to recommend someone to represent Mound City on the EEZ Board since the Aldermen had raised concerns about Mound City not being represented on the Board.
Police Chief Jon Panning updated the Council members on the police vehicles. He noted the new pickup has not yet been delivered and it would be another 3-4 weeks.
Bids were opened for the sale of the 2010 Chevy Impala used by the Police Department. A bid of $10,000 from Gentry County was accepted. It was the highest of three bids received.
Water Superintendent Randy Crowley will be getting bids for maintenance projects including painting of the water tower and cleaning of the lime pits.
Terry Vest was re-appointed to the Mound City Housing Authority Board for another 4-year term.
