Johnson-Brock School Board Reorganizes

(KLZA)-- The Johnson-Brock School Board will be led by Darren Oestmann as the Board President for 2015. He was elected Monday night.  

David Bohling was elected Vice President of the Board. Keith Bohling was elected Secretary and Kelli Bohling was elected Treasurer. 

Oestmann, David Bohling and Lonnie Neddenriep will serve as the Negotiations group.  

Enrollment for Pre K through 12th grade at Johnson-Brock is 318 students.  It was noted that the final option numbers for the 2014-15 school year are 22 option outs, six students are doing home school and there are 41 option in students from Auburn, 35 from Johnson County Central and 12 from the HTRS School District.  

The Johnson-Brock School Board met in executive session for just over two hours to protect the public interest and prevent needless injury to the reputation of an individual. 

Following the closed session the Board voted unanimously to offer Superintendent Koehler and extended contract through the 2017-18 school year with a salary increase of $3,000 for the 2015-16 school year.

Superintendent Jeff Koehler reported on discussions regarding senior recognition committee recommendations.  It has been decided to hold an open forum with parents and the community regarding the issue. 

Rhonda Clark addressed the Board about concerns she has regarding a potential grading system change being considered. Rhonda Johnson met with the Board to discuss current projects in the Art classes.  

Board members also discussed the costs for camera’s for busses along with options for the Spanish curriculum.  Superintendent Koehler also discussed moving the console and the team seating in the gymnasium to the west sideline with an estimated cost of $2100.
