The University of Missouri Ag Extension staff will be presenting a series of morning meetings for area growers and livestock producers. The Holt County Ag Update will be held Thursday, January 22 at the TJ Hall Building in Oregon and the Atchison County Ag Update will be Friday, January 23 at teh Extension office in Rock Port. Each session begins at 8 a.m. with private pesticide applicator training then is followed by updates in the various subject areas of Extension staff. The meetings conclude at noon.
Private pesticide applicator training will begin at 8 a.m. For the applicator training, a training manual is required for licensing and a fee is charged for such. If you have an old manual, please bring it so you will not be charged for a new manual. This training will end at 9:30 a.m. Growers who do not need a license can benefit by attending this session.
Updates will begin with Wayne Flanary, Extension Agronomist, presenting ways to maximize your return on investment of crop input dollars.
Bob Kelly and Randa Doty, Ag Business Specialists, will be addressing the Farm Bill 2014 - Now what should producers do.
Amie Schleicher, Livestock Specialist, will discuss opportunities and issues for beef producers in 2015.
Jim Crawford, Natural Resource Engineer, will present results from the Graves- Chapple Research Center such as the closing wheel study, corn maturity study and others.
Tom Fowler, Horticulture Specialist, will end the program with a discussion of agroforestry practices for field and forest.
