(KLZA)-- The Mound City Board of Aldermen have voted unanimously to approve an ordinance supporting and endorsing an application for an Enhanced Enterprise Zone and declaring a blighted area, within the city limits of Mound City.
Prior to the action Alderman Robert Heck reported on the meeting he attended to appoint someone to represent all Holt County taxing entities except school districts on the newly formed Holt County Enhanced Enterprise Zone. Gene Bradley with the Atchison-Holt ambulance District, was selected to represent the taxing entities.
Heck expressed concern that Mound City, the largest populated area within the EEZ would not have a representative on the Board. The Council noted they would like to have the City represented on the Board when Holt County Commissioners make new appointments to the Board.
In other business The Mound City Aldermen learned from Police Chief Panning the new vehicle ordered for the Police Department has not yet arrived. The 2012 Impala damaged in a wreck has been repaired.
Mayor Chris Krueger reported the new 2015 truck for the water department has been delivered and taken to Omaha for installation of the utility bed.
An ordinance was adopted setting the regular annual election fo the City of Mound City for Tuesday, April 7, 2015. An Alderman from both the North and South Ward will be elected to a two – year – term during the election.
City Attorney Brian Tubbs reported a citation was issued for cleanup of a property at 106 East 7th Street but the case has not yet gone to court. The debris has been removed and the property leveled. The building was demolished in December, 2013.
The Council also approved paying full-time employees merit pay of $500 and Reserve Police Officers, the Pool Manager and Building Inspector merit pay of $50.
The Christmas Holidy for city employees will be from noon on Wednesday, December 24th through Friday, December 26th.
