(KLZA)-- The Pawnee County Commissioners conducted a public hearing on the proposed 2014-15 Fiscal Year budget when they met Tuesday.  Several attended the hearing and Milan Tomek asked several questions regarding the proposed budget.

Deputy County Clerk Candi Tuxhorn presented information on the budget which calls for a tax rate of 23.46-cents per $100 of assessed valuation which is up slightly from the current levy of 22.25-cents per $100 of assessed valuation.

Following the hearing a resolution was adopted approving the appropriations for the 2014-15 budget. The Board also approved transfer of $50,000 from the Inheritance Fund to the General Fund for the next fiscal year.  $704,340 will be transferred from the General Fund to the Road/Bridge Fund. Just over $6,100 is being transferred to the Handi-Bus Fund from the General Fund.

Gordon Clement, Jerry Vrtiska and Milan Tomek met with the Commissioners concerning road-side brush.  Vrtiska also asked about magnets that would help with metal on the County Roads.  Highway Superintendent Chris Rauner said he has been looking into the use of magnets.

Bids will be opened September 30th on a couple of projects in Pawnee County.  Informal quotes for County Surveyor in Pawnee County were also reviewed.  JEO of Wahoo submitted an hourly quote but no a quote for the year.  Jorgensen Surveying of Tecumseh submitted a quote of $12,000 per year and Tichy Land Survey Company of Humboldt submitted a quote of $9,950 per year.  Commissioners approved the Tichy bid for surveying from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2018.
