(KTNC)--Work continues on the reconstruction of Highway 136 through Auburn.
The contractor, Hawkins Construction, hopes to complete the second stage of phase three of the project by the end of August. They’ll begin paving intersections, driveways and sidewalks this week after finishing paving the westbound lane of the highway.
The next part of the project is the section from Irvin Drive to the cemetery.
Two-lane traffic will be maintained through the area during that part of the project, but officials say the Irvin Drive intersection at the hospital will be reduced to one lane at times. A yield sign will be installed at that intersection. Traffic accessing Highway 136 from Irvin Drive will have to yield to traffic coming off the highway onto Irvin Drive.
Sod will be placed at the appropriate areas beginning in September.
