Pawnee County Valuation Protest Hearing Dates Scheduled

(KLZA)-- The Pawnee County Commissioners have scheduled July 8th, 10th and 22nd to hear protests from county landowners on property valuations.

Commissioner Jan Lang was absent from the meeting.  Board members tabled action on the radio dispatch agreement with Johnson County until their next Board meeting.   

Sheriff Jayme Reed met with the Board informing Commissioners that Lizabetha Howard, the Office Deputy at the Sheriff’s Department will be retiring August 1 and that advertising will be done to fill the position.  

Gene Weilage and Harlo Helmerichs met with Commissioners and Highway Superintendent Chris Rauner to discuss options for re-opening a road.  Byford Schmit met with Commissioners concerning pay for part-time cleaning and grounds keeping. He stated that $10 per hour is not enough money.  Marcia Borcher said she did not feel $10 an hour is enough for 2 – 4 hours of cleaning each day.  Commissioners will have the position advertised. 

Commissioners approved a request from Larry Ossowski with Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging for $520 for the next fiscal year, which is the same amount as the current year.  

The Board also reviewed quotes for culverts for the next fiscal year and voted to have Metal Culverts provide the culverts to Pawnee County for the next year.
