(KLZA)-- Pawnee County Commissioners received contract proposals form Union Local 251 representing the Road Department employees Tuesday. The union is proposing a 4-year contract with a 5-percent wage increase in the first year and a 3-percent wage increase each of the final three years of the contract, which is to begin January 1. Board members took no action on the proposal.
Deputy County Clerk Candi Tuxhorn met with the Board to discuss Life Insurance and Long Term Disability. With Blue Cross / Blue Shield, Pawnee County had provided a $15,000 life insurance and long term disability for employees. CoOpportunity Insurance does not provide that coverage. The Board voted unanimously to continue with NACO National Insurance Services for Life and AD&D and Long Term Disability for employees.
A motion was approved to appoint the three Commissioners and Candi Tuxhorn to prepare the 2014-15 budgets for Pawnee County.
County Treasurer Cheryl Dahlgren met with the Board to discuss wages for part-time clerical help in her office. Some part-time janitorial and yard workers are paid 14 –15 dollars per hour. Dahlgren said she feels the $8.25 an hour for part-time clerical help was not enough. Commissioners voted to pay a maximum $10 per hour to any part-time help for the Courthouse offices, janitorial and yard workers.
Commissioners also voted to have signs ordered for the outside doors of the Courthouse stating the hours of the Courthouse.
