(KLZA) -- The February unemployment rate news in extreme Southeast Nebraska was mixed. Unemployment rates dipped in Richardson, Nemaha and Otoe counties while the rate was higher in Pawnee, Johnson and Gage counties.
The February report indicates Richardson County has an unemployment rate of 5.4 percent, down a tenth; Nemaha County 5.3 percent down 6-tenths of a percent. Pawnee County has the best unemployment rate in the area at 3.5 percent, which is up slightly.
The unemployment rate in Johnson County is 4.1 percent, Gage County 4.7 percent and Otoe County 4.8 percent.
Thurston County has the states highest unemployment rate at 6.5 percent. Statewide the February unemployment rate was 3.6 percent, which is up a tenth of a point from January. The national unemployment rate for the month is 6.7 percent.
