(KLZA) -- Despite concerns after the bid for the reconstruction of Highway 136 through Auburn came in higher than anticipated, Auburn Mayor Scott Kudrna says the project will be done this year.
Work is anticipated to start in April. While meeting dates and times have not been set, public information meetings concerning the project will be held prior to the start of the work.
Mayor Kudrna said he was happy the project won’t be delayed. If the project had gone out for re-bid, the project would not have been done this year. Repair work is needed out by the High School. While the project will cause some headaches in the downtown area, the Mayor says he is confident the community can pull together and get through it.
Hawkins Construction Company will be the contractor for the project.
