(KTNC) -- Now that the Nebraska Department of Roads has completed its traffic study on Highway 73 through Falls City, one traffic light will be returning to normal while two others will be removed.
The signal at the intersection of Highway 73 and 16th Street will be turned from flashing mode back to normal green-yellow-red operation at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The signals at 12th Street and 17th Street will be removed in the coming weeks.
The Falls City Council has agreed to split the cost with the state of Nebraska to upgrade the signal at 16th Street, with new poles, LED signals, conduit, and wiring. The intersection will also be made ADA compliant. The total cost is estimated at approximately $103,500.
The city and state will also split the cost to upgrade traffic signals at 14th Street and 21st Street.
