(KLZA) -- The Atchison County Ag Update will be held Wednesday, January 15 at the Atchison County Extension office in Rockport and the Holt County Ag Update will be held Thursday, January 16th at the Club in Mound City.
Each meeting will begin at 8A-M for growers to attend private applicator pesticide training and will be a pest update that all growers would benefit from and will end at 9:30 a.m. This will be handled by Wayne Flanary, Extension Agronomist. For the applicator training, a training manual is required for licensing and a fee is charge to cover this cost.
At 9:30 a.m., Graves Chapple Research and findings will be given along with an update on the Holt County Drainage Plots located along Highway 159. Other agronomic topics such as cover crops will be addressed by Flannery.
Bob Kelly will be addressing input costs and outlook for 2014 in Holt County and Randa Doty, Ag Business Specialists, will address pasture, rangeland, forage (PRF) rainfall index insurance in Atchison County.
Next, Amie Schleicher, Livestock Specialist, will discuss opportunities and issues for beef producers in 2014.
Jim Crawford, Natural Resource Engineer, will present engineering tips that will increase your profitability.
Tom Fowler, Horticulture Specialists, end the program on invasive pests attacking fruit and horticulture crops.
