Humboldt Council Approves Budget; Continues Action on Nuisance Properties
09/19/2013

(KTNC) -  The Humboldt City Council approved the annual budget and set the final tax request for the next fiscal year Tuesday night.

The final tax request decreased by approximately $5,000 from last year, to $141,091 and the levy was set at 82.78 cents.

The council approved the one-percent allowable growth and also amended the 2012-2013 budget.  The water capital improvement budget was increased by $225,000.

In other business, the City of Humboldt will seek bids from contractors to clean up properties that have been declared nuisances.  Code enforcer Emily Bausch will prepare copies of contractual proposals that will be published in the newspaper.  Companies will have until October 4 to submit bids to the city.

On a related note, the council approved a Health Board resolution declaring the property at 608 Central Avenue unsafe.  That is the home from which more than two-dozen dogs and cats were removed last month.
