(KTNC) - This might be the second day of a long holiday weekend for some, but it’s back to work day on the roads for others.
Many road construction workers in Missouri are not making this a four-day weekend. The Missouri Department of Transportation’s Beth Wright says motorists who may have driven past empty road construction areas Thursday should know there will be people working there today (Friday). (play audio :19 “roadway.”)
Wright is MO-Dot’s state maintenance engineer. She motorists should realize that there might be some places that normally have orange cones marking them that weren’t there yesterday but will be today. (play audio :26 “day.”)
Some construction zones may be vacant today depending on the contractor and status of the project. Wright says MoDOT crews try to stay out of the way of travelers, but drivers need to be more careful around work zones during holiday weekends.
