(KAIR) -- The Effingham City Council has appointed a committee in an effort to upgrade their personnel policy.
The Council Wednesday night appointed the Mayor, Council President and City Clerk to re-examine and put policies in writing on things that include establishing a wage scale and vacation and sick leave.
City Clerk Pat Strine says it’s been over 10 years since the policy has been modified.
The committee plans to meet at some point this month.
In other business, in an effort to clean up their city, the Council announced that property nuisances in the community has been on the rise and more nuisance notices will be written.
They also announced that they have begun to look into enforcing stricter policies on delinquent utility bills.
Strine says it’s come to the point that 20 to 25 percent of customers are paying their bills late on a consistent basis.
