Humboldt Council OKs Changes to Personnel Policy
05/08/2013

(KTNC) - The Humboldt City Council approved a change to the city’s personnel policy Tuesday night.
The policy was changed to allow employees who opt out of the city’s health insurance plan to be reimbursed for the cost of a private major medical insurance plan.  The amount of the reimbursement is limited to the amount spent by the city for the employee’s current health plan.
The change was made in response to a city employee who asked to drop the city’s coverage through United Health Care and purchase a plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield.
IN other business, the Humboldt City Council approved two payments to Van Kirk Brothers Contracting for work on the city’s new water transmission main.  One payment was for $759,839, and the other was for $74,518.
The council also approved two requests for one-day liquor licenses. One request was from the Humboldt Foundation, which plans to hold a wine tasting event at the Library over the Memorial Day weekend.  The other request was from Humboldt Motorsports to allow them to serve alcohol during the tractor pull on June 14th.
