(KTNC) - The Humboldt City Council finalized the details with the Southeast Nebraska Development District to have SENDD serve as the city’s Code Enforcement Officer.
The action came during Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
The council first repealed sections of the City Code providing for the abatement of nuisances and enforcement procedures.
They then approved a resolution appointing SENDD as the Nuisance Officer. The resolution doesn’t provide a name, but it’s likely that Emily Bausch will take on the position.
After approving the resolution, the council then approved a motion authorizing Mayor Mike Riley to sign the Code Enforcement Contract with SENDD. The contract is for one year, in the amount of $11,250, and begins April 1st.
A question as to what section of town Bausch would focus on initially was settled diplomatically – with a coin flip. By the flip of a coin, it was determined that Bausch would begin action against nuisance properties in the area from the south city limits to 3rd Street. Bausch will send letters to owners of nuisance properties in that area, and move north from there.
In other action Tuesday night, the Humboldt City Council voted to continue the city’s health insurance coverage with United Healthcare. They did choose a different plan, with a $2,000 deductible. The current plan has a $500 deductible.
