Husker Volleyball Team Caps Successful Weekend with Sweep
The 4th-ranked Nebraska volleyball team capped an impressive weekend by sweeping the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 3-0, in front of more than 7,300 fans Sunday afternoon at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha.
Gina Mancuso led Nebraska Sunday with 15 kills and 12 digs. Hannah Werth had 11 kills and 13 digs, and Lauren Cook recorded 35 assists and 12 digs.
The Huskers hit .365 for the match, while holding Notre Dame to a .189 hitting percentage. Nebraska also out-dug the Irish 49-35 and out-blocked them 11-7.
The win was the third of the weekend for the Huskers, who also swept Saint Louis Friday, and upset top-ranked UCLA 3-2 on Saturday night.
Nebraska hits the road for the first time of the season this weekend when they travel to Irvine, California, for matches against Colgate and UC-Irvine this Saturday.
