Students from Falls City public and Sacred Heart schools will experience a live, professional, theater performance this week, when the Birmingham Children’s Theater makes a stop locally.
The theater company will present “American Journey – The Story of Sacagewea and the Lewis and Clark Expedition” in the theater at Falls City High School on Wednesday afternoon.
The Birmingham Children’s Theater is on a national tour with the production, and the Richardson County Arts and Humanities Council is sponsoring the local presentation. June Bowers with the Arts and Humanities Council describes the production. (play audio :29)
The Birmingham Children’s Theater was founded in 1947 and is one of the nation’s oldest continuously running children’s theatres. “Theatre-in-Motion” is the touring division of the BCT, providing education wrapped in a theatrical presentation. Bowers says it’s an opportunity for students to experience live theater – with an educational component. (play audio :25)
While the performance is primarily for students, Bowers says there will be a limited number of seats available for members of the public. Those interested in attending can contact June Bowers at 402-245-0684, or arrive at the theater approximately 15 minutes prior to the 1:00 p.m. performance. There is no admission charge.
