Peru State College junior Courtney Ward reached a milestone in Saturday’s loss to Avila University.
Ward’s 25-point, 19-rebound performance gives her over 1,000 career points at Peru State. With the 25 points, Ward now has 1,008 points for her career, just outside the Bobcat top ten career scoring list.
Tamir Anderson, who played at Peru State from 1991-1994, is 10th with 1,046 points. With two regular season games remaining, Ward could reach the 10th spot, but will need to score a little over her season average to do so.
Ward’s 19 rebounds moved her up the list among the top 10 career rebounding leaders. She’s now fourth on that list with 842, trailing only Lora White – who tops the list with 967 rebounds – Angie Hubach (889), and Carrie Menges (868).
Ward also moved into second place in career blocked shots at Peru State, with her 125th career block. That trails only Tonya Volk, who finished with 135 blocks for her career.
Ward is presently ranked in six different categories in NAIA Division I basketball. She’s fourth in offensive rebounds per game; eighth in total rebounds; 14th in rebounds per game and field goal percentage; 22nd in total blocks; and 25th in blocks per game.
The Bobcats lost 79-70 to Avila University Saturday, and have to win their final two regular season games to have a chance at qualifying for the post-season conference tournament.
